County Games

In Donald Steward trophy matches, games of 25 ends are played between teams from each affiliated county, consisting of 5 rinks and played up to area finals in two sections, Northern and Southern. The counties comprising each area are as determined at the EWBF Annual General Meeting, dates to be mutually arranged.

In Silver Jubilee Vase matches, games of 25 ends are played between teams from each affiliated county, consisting of 5 rinks and played up to area finals in two sections, Northern and Southern. The counties comprising each area are as determined at the EWBF Annual General Meeting, dates to be mutually arranged. A player who has played in five or more Donald Steward trophy matches is not eligible to play in the Silver Jubilee Vase except to the extent of 6 players per team.

In both the Donald Steward and Silver Jubilee Vase matches 2 points shall be awarded to each winning rink and 1 point for a draw with 10 points for aggregate shots win and 5 for a draw. In the event of two teams finishing top of the section on points the one with the greater margin of shots is the winner. 

David Stewart – a 1 day event for unbadged players with the winner awarded 1 point towards a County badge.  A winning player may continue to take part in the event under the unbadged rule but will not be awarded further points i.e. no player can be awarded more than 1 point regardless of the number of times she wins.

Under 25 A & B teams – Mixed matches organised by the men’s HCF. Although these games do not come under our banner the fact that young ladies are involved means that the HCWBF is welcome to attend and it is especially welcomed by the Team manager, Alan Blackley.

Please Note – Smoking is not permitted during play in County matches nor in any round of a competition. Mobiles are not to be used during a match.
